Dr Marg’s approaches:

The emphasis is on the goals of the individual, whether that be healing from a trauma, repairing a relationship, or achieving personal or professional goals. My approaches are based on trauma-informed and holistic principles that underscore the interconnection of body, mind and spirit. Sessions aim to reveal the client’s own insights and to put them in touch with their inner wisdom. Greater self awareness and positive changes are the outcomes of this process.

Prior to opening up my clinic in the Northern Rivers area, I worked in the NT with adults and children across different ethnic groups. My PhD in psychology investigated the use of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) or Tapping in schools. My books are focused on health and well-being and meditation. My previous experience also includes my work as a teacher, unviersity lecturer, and a librarian.

My extensive experience in psychology includes issues of anxiety, grief and loss, trauma (sexual assault, natural disasters, and other events), depression, stress, phobias, unhelpful habits and addiction.  Sessions are client-centred and may include the use of techniques such as energy psychology (EFT), mindfulness, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), eye movement desensitisation reprocessing (EMDR), and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).

Services may also be provided for coaching, mentoring, professional supervision, and facilitation.

Individual sessions are around 50-60 minutes. Group sessions may also be arranged. Rebates are available through private health fund and through Medicare under the Mental Health Care Plan for which you will need a doctor’s referral.

Self Care and Wellbeing

Taking care of yourself is more than simply attending to your physical needs. Wellbeing is dependent on all aspects of our lives. Our thoughts, feelings, beliefs and experiences that are carried within us affect us just as much as our muscles, tendons, blood, nerves and other body parts. Physical and emotional health are intertwined: when one is affected, so is the other, and in the same vein, when one improves, so does the other. Psychological and counselling treatments empower individuals by developing their capacity to resolve emotional, personal and relationship issues. Through these processes, greater self awareness and positive changes are achieved.
